Backcountry fishing charters are onboard the Snook Crook (16’ Actioncraft). Snook, redfish, jack crevalle, trout, and tarpon are primarily targeted using light tackle on these charters. We commonly put the boat in at Anchorage, northern Key Largo, and Flamingo Bay. Flamingo Bay boat ramp is about an hour drive from Florida City, and we recommend at least a 6 hour charter for this location. The Snook Crook is equipped with a 55lb thrust Minn Kota trolling motor with iPilot, is extremely silent, and allows for a serene fishing experience on the flats. One of Capt. Elmo’s favorite locations to backcountry fish is Florida Bay, located in the Everglades National Park. There is great fishing just a short ride from the boat ramp and an ideal opportunity to view wildlife in this region, including many bird species, manatees, and dolphins. These fishing charters are available in combination with mangrove and birding tours.
